Something blue, worn beautifully

Some brides want a touch of colour that only reveals itself up close. These five bridal hair pins hold just that: tiny white blossoms, each with a sky-blue crystal resting at its heart, scattered through your hair like flowers gathered in the garden that morning.

The design

Every blossom is sculpted by hand from polymer clay, petal by petal, then set with a sky-blue Swarovski crystal chaton at its centre. Around the flowers, fine sprigs of vintage freshwater rice pearls mingle with clusters of milky Japanese seed beads that read like tiny unopened buds. Clear Swarovski crystal bicones add light, while faceted amazonite, a soft mint-blue gemstone, echoes the crystal centres. Because the pearls and amazonite are natural, each has its own subtle character, so no two pins are quite alike.

Why a set of five

The pins are deliberately composed in different sizes, from a single bloom to a fuller cluster of flowers. Together they let you build an arrangement that feels grown rather than repeated: gather them into one soft focal point beside a low bun, or scatter them through a braid or half-up style for a lighter, airier look.

Handmade in the UK, ready to ship

This set has been made by hand in my UK studio and is finished and ready to send, so there's no making time to wait for. That makes it a calm choice if your wedding date is drawing close.

Worn all day

Each pin measures 5 cm (approx. 2 in) in length: small and light, designed to sit quietly in your hair from the ceremony through to the last dance.

Beyond the day

Long after the wedding, the pins make a lovely keepsake. Wear a single one to an anniversary dinner, or keep the set as the something blue you'll want to hold on to.

If you'd like to see how the pins might suit your hairstyle, send me a photo from your hair trial and I'll gladly suggest a placement.

Styling Suggestions

Low bun or chignon. Place the fullest cluster just to one side of the bun, then tuck two smaller pins above and below it so the arrangement trails gently.

Romantic braid. Space all five pins along the length of the braid, alternating between larger and smaller blossoms.

Half-up style. Gather three pins where the sections meet at the back and scatter the single blooms into loose waves.

With a veil. Position the pins just below the veil comb, so the blossoms frame the veil rather than compete with it.

Dress pairing. Lovely with white dresses, crepe and satin silhouettes, lace with pale details, and pearl or crystal earrings.

Wedding mood. Garden, spring and summer, coastal and soft romantic weddings.

Care instructions

Unlike fresh flowers, these blossoms will never wilt, and with a little care your pins will stay as lovely as the day you first wore them.

  • Hairspray first. Set your style with hairspray before the pins go in, never after, so the pearls and amazonite keep their natural lustre.
  • Perfume last. Apply perfume and lotions before placing the pins, and let them settle completely.
  • Handle by the pin. Hold each pin by its base rather than the flowers or beaded sprigs as you slide it in and out.
  • Remove gently. Ease the pins out slowly, following the direction they were placed, to keep the delicate wiring in shape.
  • Keep them dry. Take the pins out before showering or swimming, and wipe away any moisture with a soft, dry cloth.
  • A soft clean. If needed, polish the crystals and pearls lightly with a dry, lint-free cloth.
  • Store with care. Return the pins to their box after wearing, laid flat and away from direct sunlight, ready to be worn again or kept as a keepsake.
